Phyllis Ann Moore (Davis) - Class Of 1943 VIEW PROFILE

Phyllis Ann Moore (Davis)

Phyllis Ann Davis

Jul. 10, 1925 - May 2, 2013

SOUTH BEND - Phyllis Ann Davis, 87, of South Bend, died Thursday, May 2, 2013 in Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 10, 1925 in South Bend to the late Earl and Reva (Densborn) Moore. On June 14, 1943 she married Owen E. "Hap" Davis, who died in 2010. They spent 67 years together. On May 2nd our Mother, Phyllis Ann Davis moved on from this life to be with her loving husband and friend, Owen. She passed on with her family by her side, a bittersweet farewell that will forever leave a hole in our hearts. While we will always want you with us, we will imagine you eternally staring out of your kitchen window at the lake house with Dad at your side. Phyllis retired from the University of Notre Dame as a telephone operator.

She is survived by her four children, Richard (Christa) Davis of Lady Lake, FL, Deborah (David) Stowell Varga of Rogers City, MI, Denise (Stephen) VandeZande of South Bend and Douglas (Donna) Davis of Edwardsburg, MI; nine grandchildren, Mark Davis, Ken (Paula) Davis, Shane (Nikki) Stowell, Zachary (Katie) Stowell, Shannon Hoyt and Sean (Katy) Hoyt; two step-grandchildren, Darcie (Aaron) Salvant, Leah VandeZande and Bryce VandeZande; five great-grandchildren, Reese Stowell, Jocelyn Stowell, Brendan Stowell, & Caroline Stowell; and step-great-grandchild, Kendall Salvant. Phyllis was a vibrant and feisty spirit who never met a stranger. She loved a good party with dancing and singing (even though we asked her not to sing). An avid Indiana Pacers fan, she rarely missed a televised basketball game and was always very vocal about calls. Strong beyond belief as she survived cancer two times and we are grateful for every day she was with us. We were fortunate to have her in our lives as we grew older. She held on for us.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 8th in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd., from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be no services at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory. E-mail condolences may be made at www.welsheimer.com.
