SOUTH BEND - Bruce Joseph Landy, 55, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 10:20 p.m. Sunday, August 23, 2009, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, IN. He was born on August 18, 1954, to Joseph B. and Valena Jene (Forbes) Landy in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident.
Mr. Landy worked for 10 years at United Fixtures in Niles, MI. He was a graduate of Clay High School, and had attended Ivy Tech College and Acme Institute of Technology in South Bend where he received an Associate degree in machine technology. He is survived by his parents, Joseph and Jene Landy of South Bend, IN; a sister, Diane (Rich) Fairchild of Osceola, IN; one aunt, Linda Kozloski of Benton, IN; one uncle, Larry (Jeanette "Jinx") Landy of Granger, IN; one niece, Tracie (Jeremy) Lehman of Elkhart, IN; and one nephew, Brian (Joy) Fairchild of Mishawaka, IN.
Bruce enjoyed photography, working with his hands, and flying remote control airplanes. He was mechanically inclined and enjoyed working on automobiles and engines. Bruce also loved spending time with his friends in Michigan. He liked watching classic movies, especially science fiction movies. Bruce loved people and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved traveling and meeting people, and lived life to the fullest. Bruce was also an avid Notre Dame fan.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, August 27, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 27, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, IN, with Pastor David Fredricks officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley.
