MENOMINEE, MI - Susan Ann Mejer, 67, of Menominee, Mich., passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. She was born on August 14, 1947, in South Bend, Ind., to the late Wayne W. and B. Eldora (Priebe) Crawford.

Susan graduated from Clay High School in South Bend, Ind., attended Ball State University for one year and I.U.S.B. for two years. She graduated from the South Bend School of Practical Nursing and became an L.P.N. in 1968. She worked for the Indianapolis Public Health System as a school nurse and prenatal clinic tech. She also worked as an L.P.N. at Memorial Hospital in South Bend in the O.B. and E.R. Depts. After moving to Menominee in 1989 she was employed as an L.P.N. at BAMC, retiring in 2009.

She also worked for the Delta Menominee Public Health Dept. for several years. Susan was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where she served as Church Council Secretary for 6 years. She served the Menominee Maroon Athletic Booster Club as a volunteer and Treasurer for over 10 years.

Susan is survived by her son, Joel (Melinda) Mejer, and her grandsons, Samuel L. Mejer and Owen W. Mejer, all of Sun Prarie, Wis.; one sister, Marye (Dave) Mathieu of Menominee, Mich., and many nieces, nephews and precious friends. Along with her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her son, Samuel W. Mejer.

Funeral services for Susan will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church in Menominee on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at 11:00 am. A time to gather and share stories will be after the funeral service during the luncheon in the fellowship room. Pastor Scott Ehle will be officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Menominee. The Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home is assisting the family (549 10th Ave., Menominee, Mich. 49858 (906) 863-3227).

Susan's family gratefully acknowledges the excellent care given by Dr. Hamden and Dr. Montoya, the BAMC Cancer Care Center, BAMC and Marquette General Home Health & Hospice Nurses and CAN's. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to Bethel Lutheran Church, the Menominee Booster Club, or to the DAR boys and girls club.
