Verna Jeanne Gillett

LAS CRUCES, NM - Verna Jeanne (Bybee) Gillett passed away Monday, May 15, 2017, at her home in Las Cruces, NM, at the age of 88. Verna was born March 16, 1929 in South Bend, Indiana, to John Lawrence and W. Grace (Coplen) Bybee.
She married William T. Gillett on May 27, 1949. Verna enjoyed sewing for her family and watching hummingbirds. Verna is survived by her husband, William Gillett, and two daughters, Donna (Richard) Gehring of South Bend, IN & Dolores (Darrell) Ward of Las Cruces, NM, 10 grandchildren & her great-grandson. A sister, Mary K. (Richard) Sayers in Florida & brother, Charles W. (Mary) Bybee in Niles, MI, also survive. The grandchildren are Cynthia Gehring, Patricia Gehring, Michael Gehring, Robert Gehring, Shawn Ward, Brenda Ward, Erik Gillett, Renee Gillett, Janet Gillett and Jacob Gillett; and her great-grandson is London Ross. She was predeceased by her son, John W. Gillett in April 2002, and her daughter, Betty L. Gillett in December 2006. A sister, Sarita Julia Ann (John) Grall, and brother, John L. (Mildred) Bybee, Jr., also preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be at Getz Funeral Home on June 1, 2017 at 10:00 am. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Verna's life. Condolences may be sent at www.Getzcares.com. Interment will take place at a later date in Portland, IN.
