Kenneth Wayne Call
June 16, 1929 — April 24, 2025
Kenneth Wayne Call, 95, a man whose life radiated warmth and devotion, departed this world peacefully on April 24, 2025, in South Bend, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 16, 1929, on the kitchen table of his family’s home in Granger, Indiana, to the late Marion and Jennie (Sears) Call, Kenneth's journey through life was rich with both challenge and joy, reflecting the spirit of a man who found profound fulfillment in the relationships he cherished most.
Kenneth was a devoted husband for 71 years to his beloved wife, Cozette (Hammond) Call, whom he married on February 27, 1954, in South Bend. Together, they crafted a life filled with laughter and love, nurturing a family that would become the heart of Kenneth’s existence. His passion for family was evident in all he did, igniting a deep bond with his children: sons, Kevin, Donald, Thomas, and daughter Sandra (Brian) Young. He took immense pride in his role as grandpa to, Stephen (Creeanna) Young, Jessica (Ben) Kase, Jordan (Lindsay) Call, and Abigail Call, great-grandpa, to nine treasured great-grandchildren; and brother, Dean Call.
Kenneth was a multifaceted individual, balancing the responsibilities of his career as a ceramic tile setter with the joyful reward of driving a school bus while his children were in school. He embraced each moment, attending to the needs of others with an unwavering spirit. His military service in the US Army shaped his character and offered him a sense of discipline that he carried into every aspect of his life.
Beyond his professional roles, Kenneth was a vibrant man of diverse interests and hobbies. He relished the peaceful moments spent fishing on Christie Lake in Michigan and displayed a competitive edge as he pitched fast pitch softball in city leagues. Kenneth found excitement in betting on horse racing and was a stalwart supporter of Notre Dame football, IU basketball, and the Chicago Cubs.
Kenneth was not only marked by his living family but also by the lasting legacy of those who have passed before him. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph, Luther, Don, Marshall, and William Call, and his sister Jane Glassman.
