Charles J. McNerney, 84, passed away at 7:28 pm Tuesday, October 7, 2014 in Hamilton Grove, New Carlisle. He was born August 4, 1930 in South Bend, IN to the late Joseph "Gerald" and Theresa (Nagy) McNerney.
Charles lived most of his life in the South Bend area except when living in Arizona for 16 years where he pursued his love of golf in retirement. He worked as Human Resource Director for many years at Studebaker and then Torrington, retiring in 1995.
Charles is survived by his wife, Teressa (Lukacs) McNerney; daughters, Karin Ganser and Linda Pyfer, both of Chicago and Pamela (Grant) Shumway of Algonquin, IL; son, Patrick (Cheryl) McNerney of South Bend; ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Katheryn Kois of South Bend and Theresa McNeil of Elkhart; and brother, Robert (Diane) McNerney of South Bend. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Stewart; and brothers, William and Joseph McNerney.
There will be no public visitation or services. Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
