Carol May Riggs

Carol Riggs, 80, of DeLuna Way, South Bend, died at her son's home in California on September 8, after an illness caused by aggresive brain tumors.

Carol was born October 27, 1926 to Orville Smith and Ruby Faye Smith (VanLue). Her formative years were spent in Roseland, where she attended elementary and high school. She graduated from high school in 1944. On April 12, 1947, she was united in marriage to Roy Richard (Dick) Riggs. They made their home in South Bend, in the River Park area and later on Kern Rd. She was a homemaker, a mother and along with Dick were servants to others around them. She was a member of Gospel Center Church where she faithfully attended and served her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Surviving relatives include her son Rick Riggs and his wife Erendira of Castro Valley, Ca., and two grandchildren Celest Stinson and Richard. Surviving also are her two sisters, Marilyn Gorsline and Anna Brown and her two brothers Arthur Smith and Chuck Smith.

The family will receive friends from 2 PM to 8 PM Friday September 14 at Palmer Funeral Home - River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday at Gospel Center Missionary Church, 930 S. 30th St. South Bend. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may participant.be made in lieu of flowers to Gospel Center Missionary Church - Mission Ministries fund where she was a lifelong active member and participant.
