61300 US 31 SOUTH (574-291-3782) SOUTH BEND, IN 46614
(574) 289-2848∼On October 21, 2010, Joseph "Joe" H. Hartsough, 84, of South Bend, IN heard the call to "Come Home." A call he lived his life to answer.

Always unashamed of his love for the Lord, his family and friends, Joe gently touched the hearts of others. To know him was to be embraced by a sweet love, to witness his pure faithfulness to the Lord and be delighted by his wit and humor. Joe served his country honorably in the South Pacific during World War II. Following his heart for the Lord, he returned home to begin traveling with a music ministry. He enjoyed his life as a skilled carpenter and craftsman.

Christened with a surprise Denver snowfall on June 2, 1951, Joe proudly took Faye Dell Cason as his bride. The Lord blessed Joe and Faye with three children. They cherished fifty two wonderful and adventurous years together. His wife, Faye, a son, Howard and a granddaughter, Alesia Zalas preceded him in death.

Joe is survived by his daughters, Susan Gosser and Joyce and her husband, John Zalas, all of South Bend, IN; grandchildren, Larry Nard and Shawn Nard; seven great grandchildren and sisters, Dorothy Melson of CO and Ruthie Sible of NC.

The family wishes to express deep appreciation to the Southfield Village family. Their love, care and friendship were a treasured gift. He loved all of you. One of the last prayers Daddy whispered was "Lord I desire to be a joy and delight to you." The answer to this prayer will be "Welcome home good and faithful servant."

Because of Joe's love for the children of Africa, we ask that no flowers be sent and any donations be made to Compassion for Africa, 19420 Dresden Drive, South Bend, IN 46637.

A Celebration of his life will held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2010 in Southfield Village, 6450 Miami Circle, South Bend, IN. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.palmerfuneralhomes.com
