Darryl Ross Battles

Darryl R. Battles, 62, of South Bend, Ind., passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 28, in his home.
He was born Feb. 26, 1940, in Ottawa, Ill., to the late Sherman A. and Ruth (Enders) Battles. On March 3, 1962, in Schererville, Ind., he married the former Joan M. Sala, who survives. He is also survived by five daughters, Dawn Nunez of Osceola, Ind., Dianne Dobrovic (Mike) of Dublin, Ohio, Desiree Corbett of Mishawaka, Ind., Deborah Norris (Richard) of Greenwood, Ind., and Darci Weichert (Kurt) of Cape Coral, Fla.; and by eight grandchildren, Brandon, Michael, Erika, Danielle, Dalton, Trevor, Jessica and Lindsay.
Mr. Battles retired from State Farm Insurance Agency as manager, serving 20 years. Presently he was a transportation driver at the Roseland Holiday Inn. He graduated from Clay High School and attended I.U.S.B. Mr. Battles served in the United States Navy, and was a member of Roseland V.F.W. Post 642 and Amvets.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Jan. 30, in the Welsheimer North Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road. Private family services will be held.
The Welsheimer Funeral Home handled arrangements.
