Kenneth David Misenar

Kenneth David ("Ken" or "Kenny") Misenar, 84, of Avon, IN, passed away in the comfort of his home on May 25, 2024. He was born in Mishawaka, IN on January 22, 1940 to Harold Misenar and Georgia Faye Huffman.

Ken graduated from Washington Clay in South Bend, 1958. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1962 receiving honorable discharge as an Airman Second Class. He went on to have a successful career in the Insurance industry earning several designations by the insurance institutes.

Ken enjoyed camping and fishing with his family and friends. He developed a passion for activities that allowed him to use his creative side. He built and flew remote controlled airplanes, did woodwork projects, and later in life did several paintings. He discovered a love for playing guitars and even built many of his own guitars.

Ken traveled to many places with his wife and sons on his motorcycle. He loved going on trips to the Smokey Mountains and riding the Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap. He enjoyed watching Notre Dame football games in person and later on T.V. After moving to Avon, Ken became an avid Pacers Fan. He found great enjoyment in going to the games and would watch them on T.V. when he couldn't be at the game.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents Harold Misenar, Georgia and Cleo (Speed) Huffman and his daughter Cheryl (Misenar) Miers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Janet (Landrum) Misenar; two sons, Scott (Mira) Misenar of South Bend and Brian (Liz) Misenar of Granger; son in law, Bill Miers; two step-daughters, Sara (Nathan) Rawles of Albion and Amanda (Anthony) Probst of Speedway; one brother, Larry Huffman of Niles; two sisters, Rose Ann Reichart of South Bend and Helen Weinberg of South Bend; nine grandchildren, Tori (Gary) French, Brooke (Zach) Leitgeb, Joseph Misenar, Lily and Everly Misenar, Tyler (Alyssa) Rawles, Nick and Timothy Rawles, and Annabelle Probst; three great- grandchildren, Rudy Leitgeb, Logan and Evelyn Rawles.

Ken generously donated his body to the Anatomical Education Program at Indiana University School of Medicine. Ken was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2006 and had an esophagectomy. He wanted them to be able to study and continue their research.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Burr Oak Pavilion (501 W 200 S, Albion, IN 46701).

I ALWAYS WILL REMEMBER KENNY AS A REALLY GREAT GUY!!  AND HANDSOME AT THAT !!  STAYED IN TOUCH WITH KENNY MANY YEARS LATER AND REALIZED THAT HE CONTINUED TO BE THE EPTOME OF SOMEONE WHO WAS A GREAT FAMILY MAN ,AND TRIED TO STAYED  IN TOUCH WITH OLD FRIENDS WHOM HE GREW UP WITH!!  I ALWAYS RESPECTED HIS CHOICES, JAN BEING ONE OF THEM!  AS A FAMILY, MAY YOUR MEMORIES GIVE YOU COMFORT!  HUGS JUDY (SIS)
