SIOUX FALLS, SD - Nancy Jean Ellingson, 72, of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Dougherty Hospice House surrounded by her family. Visitation will be Saturday, June 15, at Faith Alliance Church, 520 N Howard St., St. Paul, MN, at 10 a.m. and funeral service at 11 a.m.

Nancy Jean Schieber was born Dec. 10, 1940, to Arnel and Frances (Gibson) Schieber in Mishawaka, IN. She graduated from Washington-Clay High School in 1958. She attended Memorial School of Nursing and graduated in 1961. Nancy worked at Memorial Hospital two years before moving to Browning, MT, where she worked for Public Health. She married Alvin Ellingson on May 8, 1965.

The couple moved to Woodbury, MN, where they raised their three children. Nancy volunteered much of her time at school, church and other organizations. The couple retired and moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., in 1993, where they resided until her death. Nancy enjoyed gardening, canning, and spending time with her family and friends. Nancy loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a great friend and mentor to all who crossed her path.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Alvin of Sioux Falls; daughter, Elaine Ellingson; son, Kevin (Lori) Ellingson; grandchildren, Tyler (Kristin), Ryan and Kyle Snell; great-grandson, Connor, whom she was so grateful to have met; brothers, Alan (Linda) Schieber, David (Mary June) Schieber and Gary (Lynn) Schieber; sister-in-law, Jean Schieber; aunts, Janice Scott, Edith Potts and Alice Young; lifelong friend, Nona Freeman; many nieces, nephews, extended family & friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Amy, and brother, Bill.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be sent to Avera Hospice Care, 4509 Prince of Peace Place, Sioux Falls, SD 57103. .
