Frank M. Lamson III, 81, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend of complications from COPD and pulmonary fibrosis.

He was born on March 9, 1937 to the late Frank M. II and Marion A. (Barney) Lamson in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong area resident. Along with his parents; he was also preceded in death by a great grandson, Gavin Lee Lamson; one sister, Mary Ann Bokhart; and two brothers-in-law, George L. Bokhart and Donald L. Hardy.

Frank was a 1957 graduate of Washington Clay High School in South Bend and was an U.S. Army Veteran, where he served his country from 1959-1966.

He retired on March 9, 1999 from Sears Roebuck in Elkhart, IN, where he worked as a Receiving Manager for 37 years.

On May 7, 1960, he married Mary Suzanne Stemen at Christ the King Catholic Church in South Bend, IN.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, of almost 58 years, Mary Lamson of South Bend, IN; one daughter, Mary (Tobias) Lamson-Burke of Kent City, MI; two sons, James A. (Dawn) Lamson of Niles, MI; Matthew P. Lamson of South Bend, IN; two grandchildren, Derek J. (Morgan) Lamson of Niles, MI; Paul A. (McKayla) Lamson of Niles, MI; one recently born great granddaughter, Peyton James Lamson; and several nieces and nephews.

Frank was an avid Notre Dame Fan for many years who especially loved cheering for the women's basketball team and enjoyed his 1929 Ford Model A, which has been his baby since 1957. He will miss his weekly Tuesday morning breakfast with the guys from high school that Frank and his life- long friend Carl Romine founded along with attending Thursday Night Couples Dinners. Frank loved spending time with his family and loved being a grandfather and a very recent great grandfather. He did a lot of building projects with his children and grandchildren along with taking them fishing. He was a great man who will be remembered for his cheerful smile and happy heart.

Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2018 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, IN, where Military Honors will be performed. Interment will take place at Highland Cemetery at a later date.
