GOSHEN, IN - Roselene Diane Pappas “Rosi” Kimble, 81, passed away peacefully from this world into the gates of Heaven on December 9, 2020 in Goshen, Indiana. Rosi was born January 29, 1939, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late George K. and Izora Gazele (Mathis) Pappas. Her father immigrated from Greece, eventually settling down with his wife in South Bend, where they raised four children. Rosi, the youngest by 14 years, was a cheerleader and graduate of Washington-Clay High School in 1957. After high school she attended Indiana University Center while working as an office clerk. During this time, Rosi found her groove, and danced her way into the arms of the late Frank Charles Ieraci. Soon after, they were married on June 2, 1962, and welcomed four beautiful children. After 15 years of marriage, Rosi and Frank parted ways, but remained friends over the years. In 1978, Rosi moved to Schaumburg, Illinois, where she continued to live and work until her retirement. In 1982, she remarried Roy “Bud” Kimble. Together, they discovered a passion for boating and spent many nights on the water sipping their favorite cocktail. They too eventually separated, but her passion for the open water continued. Her one true love was always for her family.
Rosi had a zest for life, adventure, and traveling. She fulfilled her lifelong dream of riding a horse along the coastline and surf of Maui. Her favorite time of year was always Christmas. She would find the most perfect gifts by starting her shopping early, taking great pleasure in wrapping her gifts (with an undiagnosed addiction to scotch tape), and enjoying the anticipation of unwrapping gifts while closing her eyes. Rosi treasured time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. She was a kid at heart and would sit on the floor with them to play games. Rosi was involved in a women's Bible study group, and enjoyed dancing, music, movies, and good food; sloppy joes and Dr. Pepper were her favorites. All who loved Rosi will never forget her genuine heart, sincere eyes, sympathetic ear, and warm hugs, but most of all, her radiant smile and contagious deep belly laugh. She was the sparkle of every holiday and party.
Rosi is preceded in death by her parents, brother Clifford “Cliff”, sisters Wyona and Sally, and infant grandson Ryan. She is survived by her children, Tristi (Michael) Matzuka of Saint Charles, IL, Anthony (Amanda) Ieraci of South Bend, IN, Trent (Brigette) Ieraci of Mishawaka, IN, and Troy (Samantha) Ieraci of South Bend, IN, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Rosi is also survived by her best friend of over 40 years, Roseanne “Ro” Chwal, with whom she spent every Friday evening catching a movie, having dinner, or planning their next trip.
A private celebration of life was held at Yurs Funeral Home in St. Charles, Illinois on Wednesday, December 16. Burial services are today, Thursday, December 17. The family would like to sincerely thank the nurses and doctors at Southfield Village South Bend and Greencroft Goshen Healthcare for their dedicated, loving, and compassionate care.
