Dr. Charles F. Coussens, age 70, of Russellville, Arkansas, died Thursday, February 20, 2003 at Semper Care Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. The son of Camiel and Irene (Strantz), he was born January 2, 1933 in Granger, Indiana. He married Dorothy A. Kopacz, on September 22, 1956 at Roseville, Michigan. He was a graduate of Michigan State University. Dr. Coussens was a veterinarian and practiced at Danville, Arkansas and specialized in large animal care. He operated two laboratories that tested for Equine Infectious Anemia. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of St. John's Catholic Church. He was a member of Arkansas Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, Alpha Gamma Rho.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Coussens of Russellville, AR; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen Coussens of Spring, TX, James & Janice Coussens of Baton Rouge, LA, Dr. David Sharon Coussens of Little Rock, AR; 3 daughters and son-in-law, Dianne & Michael Elsken of Lincoln, Nebraska, Karen Donahue of Spring, TX, Sharon Coussens of Little Rock, AR; 4 brothers, Frank Coussens of Colorado, Paul Coussens of South Bend, Indiana, Henry Coussens of Kentland, Indiana, John Coussens of Mishawaka, Indiana; 6 grandchildren, Warren Elsken, Dorothy Elsken, Katharine Donahue, Benjamin Thomas Donahue, Caroline Coussens, David Coussens, Jr.

Funeral service was Monday, February 24, 2003 at the St. John's Catholic Church officiated by The Very Reverend Ernest L. Hardesty. Burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Park at Russellville, AR, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
