CLAYPOOL - John Thomas Kirkwood, 77, passed away Thursday, October 25, in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.

He was born September 1, 1930, in Mishawaka, to the late Jennie Tucker and William H. Kirkwood. On December 32, 1951, in North Manchester, IN, he married Norma Metzer. He owned and operated the Kirkwood Garage in Claypool, IN, and also worked for the Gragg Equipment Company in Warsaw. He lived in Claypool his lifetime, and was a former member of the Claypool town board. He was a veteran of the Korean War, honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in August 1954.

He is survived by his wife, Norma (Metzer) Kirkwood; daughters, Rhonda Kirkwood of Warsaw and Jeni Alam of Indianapolis; a granddaughter, Ann Menzie of Minneapolis; a grandson, Andrew Alam of Indianapolis; and a brother, William H. Kirkwood Jr. of Albion, NY. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Robbins.

Graveside services with military honors will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Graceland Cemetery, Claypool, with Rev. Evelyn Haney, Claypool United Methodist Church, officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and the Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice.

Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, is handling arrangements.
