SOUTH BEND - Ralph D. Bashore, 75, of South Bend, died Thursday morning, May 26, 2011, in his home. Ralph was born October 1, 1935, in South Bend, to the late Irene (Pinckert) and Jesse Bashore. Also preceding him in death were a son, Charles Walton, and sisters, Edith Apple and Joy Wiggins.

On May 28, 1960, in South Bend, he married Peggy Perdue, who survives. Also surviving are daughters, Brenda Parrish (Jerry) of Cassopolis, MI, Belinda Richardson of South Bend and Barbara Brittain (Robert) of New Carlisle, IN; son, Brian Bashore (Mary) of Silverdale, WA; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine Taylor (John) and Ruth Arsonault (Ed), both of South Bend, and Helen Ingram of Arizona; brother, Howard Bashore (Barb) of Knox, IN; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Ralph retired from USF Holland Truck Lines after 41 years service. He was a member of Teamsters Local Union 364 in South Bend and 710 in Illinois.

Ralph attended the former Washington Clay High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force with honor. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He loved to play horseshoes, was an avid Notre Dame football fan and was a great armchair quarterback. Ralph had an extensive collection of vintage Jim Beam Bottles which he loved collecting.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31st, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to services. Burial with military honors will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Contributions in Ralph's memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
