DORIS M. (RYAN) BRATCHER

May 24, 1923 - July 5, 2008
BRIDGMAN - Doris M. Bratcher, 85, of Bridgman, formerly of South Bend, passed away in Jordan's Nursing Home on Saturday, July 5, 2008.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, Aug. 2nd, in Woodland Shores Baptist Church, 3555 Shawnee Road, Bridgman. The Rev. Winston Decker, pastor, will officiate. Private burial has taken place at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Doris was born May 24, 1923, in South Bend, to the late Sophie and Waldo E. Bridget.

She graduated from Washington Clay High School in 1942 and was united in marriage to C. Dale Bratcher on November 11, 1945, upon his return from serving in England during WWII. Doris worked for the Bendix Corporation during WWII and retired from Valley Lea Dairies in 1985. In 2002 she moved to Bridgman where she attended Woodland Shores Baptist Church.

She recently became a resident at Jordan's Nursing Home where she received exceptional care and support from their staff as well as from Hospice at Home.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Debra L. Meeks (Robert) of Harbert; her son, Dennis D. Bratcher (Marsha) of Page, Arizona; two grandsons, Andrew R. Meeks (Jenny) of Naperville, Illinois, and Dennis D. Bratcher Jr. (Robin) of Fountain Hills, Arizona; and two great-grandsons, Emerson D. Bratcher and Charles R. Meeks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, and by a sister, Lucille.

Memorial contributions in Doris' name may be made to either Woodland Shores Baptist Church, PO Box 731, Bridgman, MI 49106; or to River Valley Senior Center, PO Box 275, Harbert, MI 49115.
