CLARE EVERDON

Nov. 1, 1927 - Oct. 2, 2013 MISHAWAKA - Clare L. Everdon (Groner) of Hermann, MO, died on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at Frene Valley Health Center, at the age of 85. She was born November 1, 1927, in St. Elizabeth, Missouri, to her parents, Paul and Clara Groner.

She is survived by her sister, Martha Fennewald of Westphalia, Missouri, and her brother, Paul Groner of Hermann, Missouri. Preceding her in death were three brothers, George Groner, Hubert Groner and Henry Groner; as well as four sisters, Caroline Biggerstaff, Ida Fennewald, Dorothy Wilding and Theresa Speckhals. Clare spent some formative years as a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration in Mishawaka, Indiana.

In 1973, in Mishawaka, Indiana, she married Joseph Conley Everdon, and in 1990 they retired to live in Hermann, Missouri. Joseph preceded her in death in November 2006. Clare has one stepson, David Everdon; and three stepdaughters, Karen Everdon, Gail Quesinberry and Kathryn Bickle; four step-grandchildren, Stacy Cox, Hayley Bickle, Matthew Quesinberry and Mitchel Quesinberry; and 4 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Clare graduated from Hermann High School in 1945. As a young teacher she taught in a one-room school house in Berger, Missouri. Subsequently, Clare received her BA Degree in Education in 1969 from St. Francis College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a Master's Degree in Counseling in 1978 from Notre Dame University; she spent her career as an English teacher and counselor in Indiana; she taught at Bishop Luers High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Marian High School in Mishawaka, Indiana, and retired in 1990 from Clay High School in South Bend, Indiana.

Clare felt blessed to have a great number of nieces and nephews and many friends. Clare made the gift of her body to the School of Medicine of Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. A memorial Mass and celebration will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church on Saturday, November 2, at 11:00 AM. Memorial gifts may be made to the cemetery fund of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Berger, Mo.
