OTHA LEE "ROSCO" HALBERT


Oct. 22, 1969 - Oct. 10, 2011 SOUTH BEND - Otha Lee (Rosco) Halbert, 41, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2011, at home peacefully in his sleep. Otha was born October 22, 1969, in South Bend, IN, to Willie and Nancy Halbert. Both parents preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory best fried & ex-wife, Kartika Phillips-Halbert; six children, DeMarcus, Brittney, Tei-Onna and Taleó Halbert, Keemó and De SteFanó Richardson, all of South Bend; six siblings, Brenda, Nelson, Mattie Cotton, Anelia and Tijuanna Halbert, all of South Bend, and Sheila (Derrick) Harper of Indianapolis, IN; nine nephews and 12 nieces; three great-nephews and four great-nieces.

Otha attended Clay High School. He was employed at Century Center - Center Plate for many years, He confessed Christ at an early age. He was a faithful member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church where he was a member of the Sunshine Band. He lived and loved life to the fullest; whenever he was in your presence, it was plenty of laughter and joy. He was a very sociable person with a big heart; he loved dancing, smiling, and speaking Bible quotes. He was full of knowledge and wisdom that he shared with many people.

Family members who preceded him in death include his parents, Willie and Nancy Halbert; grandson, DeMarius Halbet; paternal grandparents, Nellie Rice and Murphy Cotton, Ruby Lee Halbert and Zack Earven; and great-nephew, Antonio Avance Jr. He was loved by a host of relatives and friends.

Services for Mr. Otha Lee Halbert will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at the New Horizon Outreach Ministry, South Bend. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 12 noon p.m. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with services.
