VIRGINIA (RAWLINGS) HARTMAN

Virginia (Jinny) Rawlings Hartman May 5, 1918 - Jan. 23, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Virginia (Jinny) Rawlings Hartman, 96, of Clermont, FL, and formerly of South Bend, IN, died January 23, 2015, in Clermont, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary C. (Henry) and Richard R. Rawlings; brothers, Richard and Roy Rawlings; and her husband, Orville C. Hartman.

Born on May 5, 1918, she graduated from Washington Clay High School, worked at the I.M. Electric Co., was the story lady for the South Bend Public Library, Y Teen director for the YWCA, and the Director of Camp Millhouse and the Children's Dispensary. Virginia was a member of First Christian Church and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 2 of South Bend. She was very active in community organizations and church work. She retired to Brandon, FL, where she enjoyed entertaining friends and family.

Virginia is survived by son, Douglas (Rebecca) of Clermont, FL, and daughter, Louanna (Lou) Myers (fiance, Michael Vallinch) of Omaha, NE; and 5 grandchildren, Bradley Hartman of Sebring, FL, Brandon (Bridgette) of Hoover, AL, Megan (Michael) Distefano, Stephanie and Ashley, all of Omaha, NE. She also has two great-grandchildren, Alex Holston and Lucille Distefano.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the American Cancer Society. A Celebration of Life will be planned for later in the spring.
