RANDALL O. KOONTZ

SOUTH BEND - Randy O. Koontz, born in Tempe, Arizona, passed away on Thursday, January 24, at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center, Indianapolis. Randy was born the son of William Dean Koontz and Betty Lorraine Koontz on June 27, 1953, in Tempe, Arizona. Shortly after his birth the family moved to South Bend, Indiana, where Randy lived for the rest of his life.

After attending Clay High School, South Bend, Indiana, Randy enlisted in the United States Army.

As a lifelong resident of South Bend, Indiana, Randy spent the latter part of his life self-employed and enjoyed helping out his neighbors in any way he could. He also had the full-time job as primary caregiver to his mother. Randy was a member of the South Bend Maennerchor Club. He enjoyed recycling aluminum, fishing, "Da Bears" and NASCAR (Dale Jr.-#88).

Randy was preceded in death by his father, William D. Koontz, grandfather, William Frederickson Koontz, and grandmother, Helen Koontz.

He is survived by his mother, Betty Lorraine Koontz of South Bend, IN; brother, William Arthur Koontz (Peggy) of Osceola, Indiana; sisters, PJ Powell (Michael) of Osceola, IN, and Mariellen J. Graf (John) of South Bend, Indiana; nieces, Holly, Trisha, Danielle and Felicia; nephews, Jason, Greg and Joseph; great-nieces, Sarah and Anna; great-nephews, Austin, Ryan, Micah, Jonah and Liam; and best friend, Paul. Randy was an awesome son, brother, uncle, neighbor and best friend.

He will be greatly missed on this earth, but, we all have great comfort in knowing that we will all be together again with him in heaven. A memorial service will be held honoring Randy at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Cedar Road Missionary Church, Osceola, IN.
