HELEN L. (PEARSON) LACE

Jan. 5, 1922 - Aug. 9, 2007
NILES - Helen L. Lace, 84, of Michigan Street, died at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, in her home following a brief illness. Mrs. Lace was born on January 5, 1922, in Brook, IN, to Elmer Merle and Frances Ann (Stewart) Pearson.

Helen graduated from Washington-Clay High School, South Bend. She had been a resident of Niles since 1940. Helen played league softball as a girl. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the B.P.O. of the Niles Elks Lodge #1322. She enjoyed sewing clothing.

On August 24, 1946, in Niles she married Robert J. Lace Sr. who died December 30,1993. Helen is survived by her children, Candace (Charles) Erber of Fremont, MI, Sue (Dan) Gallagher of Kerrville, TX and Robert J. (Donna) Lace Jr. of Buchanan, MI; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and four sisters, Ardis Jones and Shirley Russell, both of Niles, Doris Weaver of Rockford, IL, and Leona Brunkhart of Mishawaka.

Mrs. Lace was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Wayne Pearson.

The family will gather privately for services at a later date. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were made by Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles. Contributions in memory of Helen may be made to Senior Nutrition Services, 1708 Colfax Avenue, Benton Harbor, MI 49022
