DANIEL J. MACIEJEWSKI

NORTH LIBERTY - Daniel J. Maciejewski, 49, of North Liberty, passed away at 4:30 p.m., Monday, May 7, 2007, in Valley View Healthcare Center, Elkhart after an extended battle with Alzheimer's. He was born on March 19, 1958, in South Bend, to Dennis and Jeannette (Zabik) Maciejewski.

On August 29, 1981, he married the former Beth A. Langel. Dan is survived by his wife, Beth, of North Liberty; their son, Tony Maciejewski; parents, Dennis and Jeannette Maciejewski of South Bend; two sisters, Sue (Randy) Nowacki of South Bend, and Tina (Kurt) Barhydt, of North Liberty; one brother, Tom (Sherry) Maciejewski of North Liberty. He is also survived by nephews, Dennis Nowacki and Patrick Langel; nieces, Carissa and Jessica Langel; several aunts and uncles; and one very special friend, Mike Kintz of South Bend.

Dan was a graduate of Clay High School, class of 1976, where he was known as "Mouse". Dan proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, joining in the summer of 1976 and becoming honorably discharged after four years. Dan was known to the Blue's Community as the "Mayor of North Liberty", he had a passion for the Blue's, family, nature, fishing, cartoons, The Three Stooges, and most of all, his son, Tony, whom he loved with all his heart and soul.

A Celebration of Dan's Life Gathering will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, May 11, 2007, in Timberland Bible Church, 16623 St. Rd. 23, South Bend, IN 46635. Rev. John Railton will officiate. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, because Dan always said "Why plant it, if you can't eat it?" memorial donations may be made to the family for an educational fund for his son Tony.
