MAXINE (BRYAN) MILLS

Maxine Mills March 26, 1937 - Aug. 26, 2015 NILES - Maxine Mills, 78, of Niles, MI, passed away at 10:48 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2015, at Heritage Point. She was born on March 26, 1937, in South Bend, IN, to Ray and Nellie (Sader) Bryan.

On January 4, 1958, in South Bend, IN, she was united in marriage to James W. Mills. Mrs. Mills is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, James W. Mills; daughter, Beth Ann (Emil) Vische of Niles, MI; son, James W. Mills, Jr. of South Bend, IN; one grandson, Matt Paver of Terre Haute, IN; two great-grandsons, Ethan and Luke Paver; and sister, Doris Abbott of Ocala, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Edith Dunn and Helen Havens; and two brothers, Donald Bryan and Leroy Bryan. Mrs. Mills was a lifelong resident.

She was a graduate of Washington Clay High School, class of 1955.

She retired as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. Mrs. Mills enjoyed gardening, bowling, music, and was an excellent homemaker.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN.
