Scott Alan Mitchell

Scott Alan Mitchell

November 11, 1950 ~ March 9, 2025

Scott A. Mitchell, 74, of North Liberty passed away on Sunday March 9, 2025, peacefully at his home.

Scott was born in South Bend to Leonard and Marylou (McCormick) Mitchell. He graduated from Clay High School and then went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force at the K.I. Sawyer Air Force base in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. His time in the Air Force gave him the opportunity to become a master mechanic in aircraft maintenance which enabled him to succeed in the printing industry for 30 years, alongside his best bud Ron “Whit” Whittaker.

Scott married Kristine (Tina) Wensits in 1994, sharing 30 years of marriage. Together they rescued many stray and abandoned animals. He always had room in his heart when one would show up and you could find him watching t.v. with a dog in his lap or a cat on the bed.
His hobbies were hunting, golf and lunch with old friends. He was taught at a young age to respect animals, therefore, he hunted for food, not game. Scott and his hunting buddies always looked forward to their hunting trips to Kansas and Iowa. His love of golf afforded him time with his family and friends, especially Jim (cousin) and Doug (brother-in-law), who were more like brothers. He never took his golf game too seriously.

He had a special bond with fellow veterans at the VFW Post 1954 in North Liberty.

Scott is survived by his wife, Tina, his mother, Marylou, his son, Brett Mitchell (Corry, PA), his sister, Jennifer (Doug) Dilts, and all his beloved fur children.

Scott was preceded in death by his father.

A celebration of life is planned for May 11, 2025 at 2:00PM, at the VFW Post 1954.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Scott’s name may be made to the VFW post 1954, 66992 Tamarack Rd. North Liberty, IN 46554 or the Meow Mission, PO Box 192, Mishawaka, IN 46546.  Palmer Funeral Home- North Liberty is assisting the family with arrangements.
