James Edward Rhoton, Jr.

SOUTH BEND - James Edward Rhoton, Jr., of South Bend, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016, at Briarcliff Nursing Home, South Bend. He was born on September 15, 1954, in South Bend.

On March 19, 1988, in Detroit, MI, he married Ann Sosnoski, who survives. Also surviving are his daughters, Carri (Armando) Quimby of Mishawaka, IN, and Stephanie (Robert) Ames of Byron Center, MI; his sons, Jeremy (Kristin) Rhoton of Byron Center, MI, and James Clovis Rhoton of South Bend; 7 grandchildren, Taylor, Zachary, Jordan, Addison, Blake, Matthew and Jackson; a great-granddaughter, Alivia; sisters, Scherrese Wysong and Penny Leslie; brothers, Larry Leslie and Mark Rhoton; and by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Danylle`; his mother, Jo Marie (Hite) Thompson; his father, James Edward Rhoton, Sr.; and stepmother, Patricia Rhoton.

He worked in the auto industry his whole life. James attended Clay High School. He was a salesman for a number of years and in management. He worked at several dealerships including Gates, Toyota and various dealerships in Grand Rapids, MI. He returned to South Bend in 2011 to help care for his father. He was very devoted to his family and his work.

A Memorial service will be held at 6: 30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Rush Creek Bible Church, 2334 76th SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. There will be a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, at Spring Lake Apartments Clubhouse, 424 Spring Lake Blvd., Granger, IN 46530.
