GARY ROBERSON

Gary L. Roberson Dec. 29, 1952 - Oct. 24, 2015 EDWARDSBURG - Gary L. Roberson, 62, of Edwardsburg, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015, in his home. He was born on December 29, 1952, to the late Jeffery and Enid (Buckhout) Roberson in Salem, Oregon, and has lived in Edwardsburg for the last 23 years. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wanonah Roberson, and his brother, James Roberson. On July 7, 1984, Gary married Jean A. Jacobs at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Columbus, Indiana.

Gary received his BS in Education from the University of Kentucky in 1988, and completed his Masters of Education in 1999. He taught in Carrollton, Kentucky, Mishawaka, Indiana and South Bend, Indiana. Gary coached football, basketball, track and baseball. Teaching and coaching were always his chosen professions and he loved what he did. In 1996, he was nominated for Mishawaka Schools Teacher of the Year. Gary was employed most recently with the South Bend Community School Corporation as a science teacher at Clay High School, where he taught for the last four years.

Gary is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jean Jacobs Roberson of Edwardsburg, Michigan; Kelley Roberson and Dan Jenkins of Anchorage, Alaska, Kristen Roberson of South Bend, Indiana, Jeffrey Roberson of Edwardsburg, Michigan and James Roberson of Edwardsburg, Michigan and one granddaughter, Lucy Roberson of Anchorage, Alaska.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m.on Friday, October 30, 2015, at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana. A private Mass of Christian Burial will take place on October 31, 2015. Memorial contributions may be made to: American Indian College Fund, 8333 Greenwood Blvd. Denver, Colorado 80221.
