Mickey J. Schimmel

May 30, 1968 ~ October 12, 2009 (age 41)

Mickey JoAnne Schimmel, 41, born to Clayton and Gerry Schimmel, passed away unexpectedly on October 12, 2009.

Mickey attended Holy Cross grade school and Clay High School. In 1985 she married Mike Snyder.

She leaves behind her mother, Gerry of South Bend; four sisters, Sheila Crandall and Kathy Calvetti, both of South Bend, Linda Shirey of Grove City, OH and Debbie Barlow of Walnut Hill, FL; and a brother, Daniel Pinkstaff of Phoenix, AZ. She was the Natural Mother of Andrew (Erin) Snyder U.S. Army, Ft. Hood, TX, and Michael (Melissa) Snyder U.S. Army, serving in Afghanistan. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Alexa and Braydon, both of South Bend, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was a son, Kyle and her daddy, Clayton.

Mickey was a warm-hearted and generous person. She would help any who needed it. With a kind soul and big heart she took in all strays, be it animal or human. One of the closest strays was her .25 cent cat named Pest, which she bought when she was 11 years old. Many strays have passed thru her life. Each and everyone she loved dearly. Also left behind to miss Mickey greatly are her best friends and loyal pets, her beagle, Murphy and her cat, Derby. Mickey leaves behind many friends that may have grown apart, but never left her heart.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2009, in Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Rev. Paul F. Doyle, C.S.C. officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pet Refuge, Inc., 2300 W. 6th Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
