JOHN EDWARD SMITH

John Edward "Bull Dog" Smith Jr, 58, of Generations Drive South Bend IN passed away at 3:51 a.m., on Tuesday March 8, 2022 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka IN.

John was born April 12, 1963 in South Bend IN to John Edward & Vervelean (Peden) Smith Sr who both preceded him in death along with maternal grandparents Orel &Eva McCalleb, paternal grandparents Marvin & Ophelia Smith, mother in law Erma Tate, after in law Charlie Ames, uncle Troy Peden, niece Sierra Smith and great nephew Jeremiah Harman Brown.

John graduated from Clay High School in 1982. He worked five years for ALDI Foods and five years at Northwood Nursing Home as a cook. His passions were fishing, playing drums, barbecuing, playing cards, dancing, music, telling jokes and being with his family.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include one daughter Shardy Benson, two sons John Edward Smith III and Reggie Murphy, seven grandchildren, one sister, Christie Cutler, five brothers Earl Peden, Gary Smith, Vincent Smith, Mozell (Denise) Bowens and Mark Marbley, special friends Pete Woodard, Tony Powell and Keith Newbill, god brother John Carver Jr, special cousin Virgie Miller, special nephews Darryl D. Brown Jr, Gary Smith, Jason Carver and John Carver III, niece Shaquita Peden and great niece Lily Carver along with a host of other great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to especially thank their cousin DeVore Smith.
