ALBERT H. SPRIGGS

SOUTH BEND - Albert H. Spriggs, a lifelong resident of South Bend, IN, passed away peacefully at 9:30 am Sunday, May 12, 2013, in Cincinnati, OH, at the Veterans Hospital. He was 83 years old. He was born on November 24, 1929, in Peru, IN, and was the only child of Birdie and Robert Spriggs. He graduated from Clay High School, and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Cpl. Sharp Shooter during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in November 1954. Albert worked at Washington High School and was a supervisor at St. Joseph County Highway Department for 25 years until he retired in June of 1995. On August 15, 1980, in South Bend, Albert married the love of his life, Cindy T. Robinson. They have enjoyed 32 years of marriage. Recently he moved to Cincinnati, OH, to be closer to his son and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; a daughter, Latosha Brooks (Fultz) of Indianapolis; two sons, Antione of Cincinnati, OH, and Shawn of South Bend; and 9 grandchildren, Shawn, Mychelle, Darrel, Damon, Dominique, Cameron, Aliyah-Antione, Alisa and Antionae. Albert was an avid sports fan, enjoying football, basketball, and bowling. Burial services will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Friday, May 31, at the Dayton National Cemetery, located at 4100 W. 3rd St., Dayton, OH 45428.
