Roger R. Ullery Jan. 29, 1936 - Aug. 2, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Roger Raymond Ullery, age 79, of Reinbeck, IA, died Sunday, August 2, 2015, at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, IA. Roger was born January 29, 1936, in South Bend, Indiana, to Raymond and Helen (Wolpert) Ullery.

He graduated from Washington Clay High School in 1954 and attended 2 years at Butler University.

On April 27, 1957, he married Jane Ann Shake at the First Presbyterian Church in South Bend, IN.

Roger worked for over 32 years at General Accident Insurance in South Bend and Greenville, SC, as an insurance claims manager. Roger loved baseball and was involved in the sport all of his life as a player, umpire, coach and recommending scout for the Cincinnati Reds for over 20 years. Roger was an assistant baseball coach at Bethel College and Spartanburg Methodist College in Spartanburg, SC. Roger was also a former Michiana High School Hockey Commissioner. He enjoyed golf and was a former safe driving instructor for AARP.

His love of life and laughter embodied all that he was and the way he lived his life. "There are three things in life which I really love: God, my family and baseball. The only problem - once baseball season starts, I change the order around a bit." - Al Gallagher

Roger is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jane Ann Ullery of Reinbeck, IA; children, Kevin (Cindy) Ullery of Spartanburg, SC, Kent (Susan) Ullery of Vandalia, MI, Cheryl (Peter) Pease of Reinbeck, IA, Craig (Maria) Ullery of Duncan, SC, Alan Ullery of Cedar Falls, IA, Brian (Kristine) Ullery of MIshawaka, IN, and Anne (Mike) Bailey of Gaffney, SC; fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ellsworth W. Ullery.

Friends may visit with the family at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN, Wednesday, August 12, 2015, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. A service was held last week at the First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck, IA. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
