Crystal Briana (Blount) Wakes

July 19, 1989 - April 18, 2018

SOUTH BEND - Crystal Briana Wakes, 28, of South Bend, IN passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Memorial Hospital South Bend, Indiana.

Crystal, also affectionately known as Crissy was born to Timothy Wakes and Connie (Davis) Blount on July 19, 1989 in South Bend, Indiana.

She attended South Bend Community Schools and graduated from Clay High School in 2008.

She attended college briefly. At the time of her transition, she worked at St. Joseph County Mishawaka Division of Family Resources and Social Services as a case worker.

Crystal accepted Christ and was baptized in the Christian faith. She attended Greater Saint John Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Pastor Andre McGhee.

Crystal was a kind-hearted, sweet, hard-working woman who left an indelible impression on all those she encountered. She was loved by everyone.

Crystal found her happiness in her children, Zilayah and Zaiden - her pride and joy.

Loved ones left to cherish her precious memory are her two beautiful children, Zilayah Denise Davis and Zaiden Crystopher Davis; parents, Timothy (Shawnna) Wakes and Connie (Jason) Blount; five sisters, La Toya (Derrick) Wakes, Ciera Davis, Shanelle Wakes, Shaynna Wakes, and Shianne Wakes; one brother, Brian Wakes; paternal grandmother, Gladys Wakes; maternal grandparents, Doncella Jones and Henry (Greta) Davis, Sr.; three nephews, LaTrell Wakes, Derrick Fowler, III, and Marcus Jones; one niece, Derriyana Fowler; a special companion, Zigfreid Davis, Jr.; a special uncle, Jerry Holt along with a host of other family and friends.

Crystal was preceded in death by one daughter, Nalayah Denise Colpitts; and paternal grandfather, Square Wakes.

Crystal's Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 101 N. Adams St., South Bend, IN 46628. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
