Joann M Miller (Jenks-Schmitt) - Class Of 1956 VIEW PROFILE

Joann M. Jenks-Schmitt passed away peacefully at home on December 292022 at the age of 84.

Joann was predeceased by her two sons, Jeffrey Jenks and Gregory Jenks, her sister, Sandy Farkas and her grandson, Jeramy Jenks.

Joann is survived by her husband Bob Schmitt, her daughter, Julie Jenks and her sister, Linda Ditsler of Arizona.

After graduating from Washington Clay High School she worked as a secretary for the federal courts then at Saint Mary’s Holy Cross shared services as secretary to the financial manager. After retirement she went to work for Barnes and Noble a job she loved as she was an avid reader throughout her life.

She loved sewing and was renowned for her skills in it. She also loved playing piano. Lots of music and singing filled our house.

She will be most remembered for her kindness, generosity, and sense of humor, her beautiful smile and contagious laugh.

Her favorite place to go was Lake Michigan. Couldn’t wait to get her toes in the sand. What she loved most were her children. Joann was a very devoted mom. In lieu of flowers Joann would just like everyone to be kind and loving to each other.

Family would like to thank Tiffany Blasko for all her help in caring for Joann and providing the family with lovely dinners. We couldn’t have done it without her help.

Visitation for Joann will be on Monday, January 9 for 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Palmer Funeral Home – Welsheimer North Chapel, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend with a family service beginning at 6:00 p.m
