Claudette M Ellis (Willig) - Class Of 1956 VIEW PROFILE

CLAUDETTE M. (ELLIS) WILLIG

Claudette Marjorie (Ellis) Willig, 83, of Goshen, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 27, 2021, after a brief illness surrounded by her family at Goshen Hospital.

Claudette was born July 3, 1938 in Peru, Indiana, to Claude and Marguerite (Bowers) Ellis. She graduated high school from South Bend Washington Clay in 1956 and graduated college at Grace College and Seminary in 1960 with a major in Bible. She was happily married to David Willig for 61 years and lived her life as a homemaker and follower of Jesus.

Claudette is survived by her husband, David Willig; her brother, Jerry (Susan) Ellis, Uinta, Utah; her three children, Michael Willig, Fishers, Timothy Willig, Goshen, and Betsy (Steve) Stockman, Taylor Mill, Kentucky; and four grandchildren, Bethany, Nicholas and Alex Stockman, of Taylor Mill, Kentucky, and Christopher Stockman, of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Ellis.

When she wasn't at First Baptist Church teaching Sunday school or serving her family, Claudette could be found working in her beautiful flower gardens, caring for her pets, solving crossword puzzles, reading Christian biographies, and spending time with her grandchildren.

For many years she taught Bible classes to children after school through Child Evangelism Fellowship. During the summers she would host backyard Bible clubs in her beautiful yard and invite neighbor kids for snacks and Bible stories. Her relationship with the Lord was precious to her, and she lived out her Christianity by witnessing to nearly everyone she met.

She would pray throughout her day with a gentle and quiet spirit and had a gift for making the people around her feel loved through her attention to detail. She would put together little gifts with Gospel tracts for trick-or-treaters on Halloween and made each birthday and holiday a special occasion. She talked with Jesus daily, and that is what made her lovely.

Visitation will be at Yoder Culp Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, with a service at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3.

The funeral service will be live-streamed beginning at 9:45 a.m. (EST). To view the service go to https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCF3Bk_heBuiMErAW Rfv-1nQ/live. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in Goshen.

Memorial contributions can be made to Child Evangelism Ministries of Elkhart County, 14655 SR-120 Bristol, IN 46507 or through their website at www.childevan.org.
