Leonard Edward Kulwicki - Class Of 1952 VIEW PROFILE

Leonard E. Kulwicki

May 19, 1933 - Dec. 30, 2000

Leonard E. Kulwicki, 67, devoted husband, father and grandfather, of Dunn Road, Osceola, Ind., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 30, in his home. He was born on May 19, 1933, to Edward P. and Antoinette (Cencelewski) Kulwicki in South Bend, Ind., and was a lifelong area resident. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward P. Kulwicki.

Mr. Kulwicki was a semi-retired produce clerk from Martin's Supermarket in Elkhart, Ind., where he was employed for 12 years. Prior to that he was employed at Prickett's Supermarket, Mishawaka, Ind., for several years. Mr. Kulwicki was also a Christmas tree farmer for 30 years.

On May 17, 1958, he married Carole Mann in South Bend, who survives. He is also survived by his mother, Antoinette Kulwicki of Edwardsburg, Mich.; a son, James H. Kulwicki of Walkill, N.Y.; two daughters, Susan L. (Bryan) Darling of Noblesville, Ind., and Christine A. (Randy) Nafe of Granger, Ind.; six grandchildren, Nathen L. Darling, Kimberlee S.Darling and Emilee L. Darling, all of Noblesville, Amanda Nafe, Julia Nafe and Austin Nafe, all of Granger; and by two brothers, Daniel Kulwicki of Edwardsburg and Melvin (Delores) Kulwicki of South Bend.

Mr. Kulwicki was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Pius X Parish, Granger, Ind., Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2284 in Edwardsburg, American Legion Post #0365 in Edwardsburg, and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #449, Buchanan, Mich. He was also the founder of the Wednesday Night Pool Club, which has met for over 25 years, and was an avid gardener and wood craftsman.

There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place. A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, in St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger, with Rev. Peter A. Jarrett, C.S.C., officiating. Burial will take place at South Wayne Cemetery, Dowagiac, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Cass County Council on Aging, 60525 Decatur Road, P.O. Box 5, Cassopolis, MI 49031-0005; to the Penn North Fire Department Station No 2, 55300 Apple Road, Mishawaka, IN 46561; or to Hospice of St. Joseph County, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637- 3437.
