Donald Albert Root
Donald Albert Root, 53, of 52051 Grape Road, Granger, died at 5:50 p.m. Sunday in his home after an illness. Mr. Root was employed by Indiana Bell Telephone Co. for 35 years. He was born June 6, 1934, in Battle Creek, Mich., and had lived in South Bend most of his life.
On April 24, 1954, in South Bend, he married Carol Fowler, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Lorri Stump of South Bend and Kimberly Simon and Mary Greenleaf, both of Mishawaka; a son, Randy of South Bend; three grandchildren; and a sister, Sharon Jones of South Bend.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road.
He was a member of Northway Church of Christ, where he served as an elder, and Telephone Pioneers of America. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
