James R. Lambert, Jr.

RALEIGH - James R. Lambert, Jr. left his earthly family on November 14, 2008 to go to his heavenly home. He was born in Trenton, New Jersey, and raised in South Bend, Indiana. He graduated from William Clay High School and never outgrew his love for the deep snows of Indiana. Jim played baseball at NC State and graduated in 1960.

After working one year as director of Parkville Recreation Department, he returned to North Carolina. He enjoyed participating in recreational sports and umpired for the City of Raleigh Recreation Department for 20 years He was an avid Wolfpacker, member of Masonic Lodge #40 and the Raleigh Sports Association,

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Florence Fuller Lambert and James R. Lambert, Sr., and step granddaughter, Julie Sherali.

Jim leaves behind a family he deeply loved and who will miss him immeasurably, his wife of 49 years, Mary Ann; his children, Robert M. Lambert and wife, Doris; Terry L. Sherali; and Steven C. Lambert and wife, Sharon; five grandchildren, whom he adored, Nathan Lambert, Kathleen Sherali, Mary Carson Sherali, Charles Lambert, and Daniel Lambert. His brother-in-law, Frank L. Craig and wife, Margret; sister-in-law, Cynthia C. Price and husband, Philip; nephew, Craig Price and wife, JoAnna; and niece Sarah Price.

He was a member of Temple Baptist Church for 45 years where he served as a deacon and teacher. He truly loved his church family.

The family will receive guests on Sunday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on Millbrook Road. A service honoring him and worshiping God will be held Monday, November 17, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church, 1417 Clifton Street, Raleigh.
