David M. Lowry

David Michael Lowry passed away on December 8, 2024, at the age of 69 in Rockford, IL. Born on June 20, 1955, in South Bend, IN, David was a man of integrity, passion and intelligence. His early years in South Bend were filled with the love and guidance of his parents, Glen F. Lowry and Rhoda (Stainbrook) Lowry. David was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister, Stacey Lowry. David’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by dear cousins, good friends, Ball State buddies and all those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.
David graduated from Ball State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree and laid the foundation for his future endeavors. His keen eye for detail and innovative thinking worked well in his professional life as an Engineering Designer.
David was a man of diverse interests and talents. He always had the hobby of photography, and he combined that with his love of travel and family. From college years, he discovered scuba diving and went on to become a dive instructor. Through discipline and strength as well as dedication and hard work, he attained a black belt in Karate. His public speaking skills were honed as a member of Toastmasters. And, all who knew him knew he was a proud member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, U.S. Coast Guard Station, St. Joseph, MI.
Funeral Services for David will be held Friday, December 20, 2024 at 11:00 am at Palmer Funeral Home – Welsheimer Chapel, 17033 Cleveland Rd. South Bend, IN 46635. Visitation is from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
