Clarence A. Fowler

Clarence A. Fowler, 85, of South Warren Street, South Bend, passed away at 1:38 p.m. Monday, April 25th, in Fairmont General Hospital, Fairmont, West Virginia, after a short illness. Mr. Fowler was born on August 16, 1919, in South Bend and resided in the Michiana area his lifetime.
On November 21, 1964, he married the former Anna Napalo, who survives.
Clarence retired from the U.S. Navy in 1959 as a Chief Petty Officer. He served on numerous Aircraft Carriers during WW II and was an ROTC Recruiter on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. He served 20 years active duty and ten years reserves. He also worked for several local banks in the Michiana area.
Clarence is survived by his loving wife of 41 years and two daughters, Valerie J. DuFour of Lake Tahoe, Nev., and Laurie Ann (Barry) Bowling of Katy, Texas; a stepdaughter, Suzette (Phil) Prichard of Mannington, West Virginia; eight loving grandchildren whom he loved and cherished, Soliel DuFour of Lake Tahoe, Nev., Hanna, Landri, Kyle, Brady and Shepherd Bowling, Joseph (Sarah) Prichard of Wheeling, West Virginia and Stacie Prichard (John) Yoak of Mannington, West Virginia; two sisters, Velma Harrison of Terre Haute, Indiana, and Iness Danver of Largo, Florida; a brother; Ralph Fowler of Terre Haute, Indiana; and a very special cousin; Dick Wasoski of South Bend.
Clarence was an avid ND Football fan, loved boxing and fought in the Golden Gloves years ago.
He enjoyed life and was a wonderful loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a devoted Catholic by faith and was a very spiritual person. Mr. Fowler will be sadly missed by his loving family and all who knew him in his life journey.
The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House in care of Memorial Hospital, 615 N. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46601. Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 1st, in the Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home located at West Ireland RoadIndiana 23, South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, May 2nd in the funeral home with Rev. Eric Schimmel officiating from Saint Adalbert Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph's Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. The Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" handled arrangements and services and extend deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Fowler family.
