Meredith E. "Spud" Huston

SOUTH BEND - Meredith E. "Spud"" Huston, 64, of 17572 Parker Drive, died about 4:16 a.m. Tuesday at 'St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mr. Huston retired in 1988 from South Bend Community School Corp. as a teacher at Clay Middle School. He was born Nov. 28, 1925, in Keokuk, Iowa, and had lived in South Bend for 26 years, coming from Marshall, Mich.
On Aug. 19, 1950, in Hillsdale, Mich., he married Betty Tenney, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Sharon Dimick of Orange, Texas, and Susan Mobley South Bend; a son, Steven R. of South Bend; and two grandchildren.
He was a former assistant football and wrestling coach and head track coach at Clay High School, head football coach at Clay Middle School, and former administrator at several Michigan school districts. He was a member of Community Congregational Church, and Indiana State Teachers Retirement Association, and a veteran of World War II. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
