Thomas J. Hinz Dec. 12, 1963 - June 8, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Thomas J. Hinz, 50, of South Bend, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014. He was born on December 12, 1963, in South Bend, to the late Raymond L., Sr. and Audrey Joan (Vogler) Hinz. On August 28, 1987 he married Carmen O'Brien, who survives. Also surviving Tom are his two sons, Thomas A. Hinz and Mitchell J. Hinz, both of South Bend; a granddaughter, Lilly; two sisters, Janine (Chris) Kohler of South Bend and Jackie Hinz of Truckee, CA; three brothers, Raymond (Doreen) and Edward (Molly), both of South Bend and Jerry of Buchanan; nieces and nephews, Rachel (Cody) Schroeder, Matt Kohler, Raymond and Ian Hinz, Brittney, Austin and Ben Hinz, Morgan and Wyatt Hinz and Heather Stewart and Paige, Brooke and Connor Montana; mother-in-law, Ruth O'Brien; and sister-in-law, Jodie (Dave) Montana. Tom was preceded in death by his sisters, Audrey Stewart and Dianne Hinz. He always had a smile and kind word to say. He loved cooking, fishing (AKA Kingfish), golfing, gardening, camping, visiting his brothers and friends and listening to music. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and will be dearly missed by all. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday, June 11, 2014, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 pm. Funeral services for Tom will be held at 11 am Thursday, June 12, 2014, in the funeral home, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN.
