Gloria Jean Lesicki (Bennett)

Gloria Jean (Lesicki) Bennett

Our beloved Gloria Jean (Lesicki) Bennett, 84, ascended to her heavenly home on January 11, 2024, passing away at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Indiana.

Gloria was born on October 29, 1939, in South Bend, Indiana to the late Alfred J. and Elizabeth (Sobecki) Lesicki. Gloria graduated from Washington-Clay High School and enjoyed many years of marriage to William (Bill) R. Bennett prior to his passing. That union blessed Gloria and Bill with their only son William (Bill) R. Bennett II, whose passing left Gloria heartbroken. Relying heavily on her faith, she looked forward to the day she would be welcomed into His kingdom, reunited with Bill to again smile and roll her eyes upward at his corny jokes and teasing!

Gloria was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother, and in later years, retired from The Marriott Hotel. She found great enjoyment from playing cards, bingo, and sharing in community “pitch in” coffee, meals, or games with family or friends. Fondly referred to as our “Energizer Bunny” who just kept going and going and coming from a long line of card playing relatives, It would not be surprising to find Gloria playing cards just a day or two after a hospital stay.  She truly enjoyed the camaraderie of friends and family and rarely turned down an invitation to join in the fun! She pushed through many adversities, not letting much, if anything, keep her down. Her tenacity was a true inspiration and her bright smile and kind, and gentle soul will be forever missed.

Gloria is survived by loving daughter-in-law Donna (Rozow) Bennett, grandson Jack Bennett, stepdaughters, Sandra Rendall and Jodi Alu. Sisters, Barbara Finneran, Judie (Julius) Horvath, Kathleen (Michael) Doyle, Bernadette Spainhower, Marianne Chrzanowski, Nancie Lesicki, and brother, Joseph Lesicki. Also, In-laws, the Rozow family, and dozens of loving nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends, all who will cherish the happy memories shared. Gloria was predeceased by her husband Bill, son Bill II, parents Alfred and Elizabeth Lesicki, and brothers-in-law, James (Jim) Spainhower, and Mark Chrzanowski.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on May 4, 2024, in Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend, IN 46615. Time will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation or Battell Community Center or Real Services Meals on Wheels Program.
