Trip to Florida Ends in Death For Alber 


LIGONIER — Dr. Robert J. Alber, D.D.S., 46, of Rt. 1, Ligonier, died at 8 p.m. Friday of injuries suffered when he was struck by an auto as he walked in front of the apartment building in which he was staying during a vacation in Stuart, Florida. He was born July 2, 1924, in South Bend, and had resided in Ligonier for 22 years.

On June 4, 1949, in Ligonier, he married Doris Jean LeCount, who survives.

He was a member of Ligonier United Methodist Church, was past president of the Ligonier Rotary Club, was a member of Koskiusco Dental Society, the board of directors of, Kendallville .Hospital and a board member of the Yacht and Savanna Club at Lake Wawasee.

Surviving, with his widow, are three daughters, the Misses Jane Ann, Susan Jo and Rebecca Lynn, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Edith Alber of South Bend, and a sister, Mrs. Cecil Pond of South Bend.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Ulrey Funeral Home, Ligonier, where friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier.
