Althea Mae (Rupley) Hoskins

Althea Mae Hoskins, 90, of Wellman, died Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Parkview in Wellman. Funeral Services were held Monday, June 15, at the Pleasant Plain Friends Church in Pleasant Plain. Pastor John McDonald officiated. Burial was in the Friends Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. A general memorial fund has been established. Mrs. Hoskins was born July 3, 1924, in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Earl and Freida (Tasher) Rupley. She graduated from  Manchester College with a degree in Home Economics and Mathematics. She was united in marriage to Keith Hoskins in South Bend, Indiana, June 2, 1951. She taught school for many years in Pleasant Plain, Van Wert, Richland, Oskaloosa, Sabula and Clinton. She also did weaving for many years in Clinton and was a member of the Weavers Guild. She kept connected by writing letters and sending cards. She has been part of a Round Robin letter since her college days. She enjoyed planning and preparing dinners, baking birthday cakes for family get togethers and using her China and crystal. Althea and Keith have lived in the Wellman community since 2009. She was a member of the Pleasant Plain Friends Church and also attended Asbury United Methodist Church in Wellman.

Althea is survived by her husband, Keith of Wellman; two sons, Moses Hoskins of New York City, New York; George (Lucinda) Hoskins of Wellman; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Celena Hoskins (Josh Brunaugh) and children Cyrus and Adelae of Portland, Oregon; Benjamin (Erica) Hoskins and children Brenna, Nolan and Evan of East Moline, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dorothy Trefun and Esther Brown; and a brother, Don Rupley.
