Ernest Loyd Snyder
Ernest Loyd Snyder, 63, of 19615 Palisade St., died at 1:35 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Hospital. Mr. Snyder was a retired auto mechanic. He was born Sept. 29, 1924, in South Bend and was a life-long area resident.
On March 14, 1945, in South Bend, he married Marilyn Markle. She died in 1983. On Sept. 28, 1985, in Kalamazoo, he married Elaine Jones, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Debi Tinker of Phoenix, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Jacquie Yuhasz of South Bend; a son, Dennis of South Bend; a stepson, Maurice Jones of South Bend; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and two brothers, Rev. Russell E. of Roseville, Ohio, and Gerald of South Bend.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. EDT Monday in Oak Grove Cemetery, Lawton, Mich. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
Mr. Snyder was a member of LaRue American Legion Post 26, Niles, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 88, Kalamazoo, Council Oak Lodge 745 F & AM and was a former member of Clay Twp. Lions Club and Clay Twp. Volunteer Fire Department. He was a veteran of World War II. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph County Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
